What Nate-Certification Is and Why It Matters Published on November 08, 2016 Levy & Son in Plano always writes about how our service techs are NATE-certified, and while it sounds encouraging, what does it actually mean? NATE stands for North American Technician Excellence and, as stated on their website, is the nation’s largest certification organization for HVAC (heating, ventilation, air conditioning) and refrigeration technicians. The organization is owned, operated, developed, and supported by the entire HVAC and refrigeration industry but not all people in the industry are required to be certified by NATE. The certification is discretionary and technicians can provide heating, cooling, ventilation, and refrigeration services without being certified through NATE. It’s important to Levy & Son that our experts are NATE-certified to ensure we are sending the most qualified and skilled technicians into your home. To make sure professionals meet these benchmarks, the NATE-certification exams validate real-world working knowledge of heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems for technicians. The exams are knowledge-based assessments that assess the technician’s knowledge of these standards. Since Levy & Son focuses on the HVAC side of NATE-certification instead of refrigeration, there are only specific areas applicable to our technicians. NATE assessment candidates may receive installation and/or service certification in one or more of the specialty areas listed below: Air ConditioningAir DistributionGas HeatingOil HeatingHeat PumpsHydronics Gas (service only)Hydronics Oil (service only)Light Commercial Refrigeration (service only)Commercial Refrigeration (service only)Ground Source Heat Pump Loop InstallerSenior HVAC Efficiency Analyst You can rely on the technicians at Levy & Son to be highly trained and professional to do the work right the first time.
